Welcome to the Moore County Public
Library’s Internet Access. To maximize availability to this
resource, and to insure fair accessibility for all, please
follow these Internet Access Guidelines, which include our
Internet policies, rules and procedures.
INTERNET ACCESS POLICY
In response to advances in technology and
the changing needs of the community, the Moore County Public
Library endeavors to develop collections, resources, and
services that meet the cultural, informational, recreational,
and educational needs of Moore County’s
diverse community. It is within this context that the Moore
County Public Library offers assess to the Internet
The Moore County Public Library
(MCPL) uses
CyberSitter to filter their
internet access computers. However, anyone 17 years and older
may request the filters to be inactivated while they are accessing
the internet. The MCPL receives federal funding and must filter
the internet in compliance with the Child Internet Protect Act.
The MCPL is not responsible for information accessed through the
internet. Library
patrons use the public access computers at their own risk.
All
Internet resources accessible through the library are provided
equally to all library users.
Parents-and only
parents- may restrict their children--and only their
children—from access to internet resources accessible through
the library.
Not all sources on the internet
provide accurate, complete, or current information. You need to
be a good information consumer, questioning the validity of the
information you find.
STAFF ASSISTANCE
Library staff
cannot provide
in-depth training concerning internet computer jargon, or
personal computer use. We may, however, be able to offer
searching suggestions and answer questions
Please remember that many times you will
find the specific information you need right here in the
library.
WARNING: Although we use a
virus-checker on the internet access computers, this will not
completely protect you from the chance of getting a virus.
Software downloaded from the internet may contain a virus and
you need to have virus-checking software on your computer. The
MCPL is not responsible for damage to a patron’s disk or
computer, or for any loss of data, damage, or liability that may
occur from patron use of the library’s computers.
Internet Guidelines:
- There will be a .20 per copy charge
for copying data off the computer.
- The computer may be periodically and
temporarily inoperable due to technical difficulties
- Misuse of the computer or internet
access will result in loss of your computer privileges.
- Failure to comply with above rules
will result in loss of your computer privileges.
- There is no charge to use the MCPL
public access computers. We ask that you limit you time if
there are others waiting.
- Children under the age of 17 must have
the filters activated while using.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
All patrons who wish to use the Moore
County Public Library public access internet computers agree to
the above stated guidelines and policies when using the public
internet access computers.
